The Trift Bridge is the longest pedestrian-only suspension bridge in the Swiss Alps. The bridge is a simple suspension bridge design spanning at a height of .〔http://www.trift.ch/bruecke2009/〕 Just a few years ago the Trift Hut of the Swiss Alpine Club could be reached on foot via the glacier tongue. The Trift Bridge spans the lake, Triftsee, near Gadmen, Switzerland in an area that receives approximately 20,000 visitors per year to see the Trift Glacier. An earlier bridge was built in 2004, as the glacier was no longer high enough to take visitors to the hut. A replacement bridge was opened on June 12, 2009. To reach there you will need to get to the cable car that is in Meiringen, where you will get a ticket for the gondola.
